Understanding Electric Scooter terminology is important because batteries are one of the main components of the Electric Delivery Scooter, it also forms a major part of the cost of the scooter. The problem is most manufacturers or sales people talk about volts and amps leaving some people confused.
Different use of the Electric Delivery Scooter require different types of battery and of the battery specification we have tried to describe the electric scooter battery terminology and types of batteries in simpler language.
If you are unfamiliar with Electric Scooter battery terminology the following is a simplified description with the general rule for batteries as follows.
Voltage: Electric Scooter Battery Terminology
Generally speaking the Volts give the Electric Scooter power or torque, so the higher voltage the greater ability to provide power to the motor. A general rule is 48 Volts is minimum for Electric Scooters, 60 Volts is Standard and 72 Volts is high voltage. The Voltage is made up of 12 Volt segments because generally 48 volts is 4 X 12 Volt batteries.
A.H: (also known as Amp Hour or Amperes.)
AH, Amp hour, or Amperes, give the e-Scooter the range or distance, the greater the AH the longer range. The measurement is the storage capacity of the battery. 20AH stands for a storage capacity of the battery.

The sealed lead acid batteries have been around for a very long time. They are the standard type of battery that you will find in any car or truck. Because they can generate a very high current required for starting an engine, the auto industry has been relying on them for years.
Because they are the oldest type, they were also the first to be used in electric scooters when they first came about. Even today, they continue to be the most popularly used batteries in many electric scooters because of their sheer power.
The main drawback of the SLA battery has to be their heavy weight. They are also large. That said, they are less expensive compared to Lithium batteries and they are also readily available. That is the main reason they continue being used in electric bikes and scooters.
It is worth noting that how long a sealed acid battery lasts really depends on the surrounding temperatures as well as its size and quality.
The Gel cell are very similar to the Lead Acid batteries and have also been around for a very long time. The difference is they are fully sealed and have Gel instead of Lead Acid. Gel batteries are made with thicker plates than other batteries because there is no liquid to spill or refill.
Generally the Gl batteries have a longer life and the added advantage of being able to be placed on their side not just upright. They continue to be popular batteries in many electric scooters because of their sheer power and that they are inert.
Lithium ion batteries are quickly becoming the industry standard even though they are the most expensive. They’ve begun taking the market by storm because of the new features they provide.
They have a major advantage over other types of batteries because they are the lightest type on the market today.
Coupled with the fact that they last about three times longer than ta regular Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) and Gel (Gel) battery, they are very attractive to electric scooter manufacturers.
They weigh a little less than half the weight of sealed lead acid batteries.
There are other factors that make Lithium battery tech so popular: They require less maintenance when not in use, they do not suffer from the “battery memory” and you can basically ignore them for long stretches of time without a problem.
As a result of these significant advantages Electric Scooter Lithium Batteries they are turning up in all sorts of places. However, on the downside, their price is often much higher than that of the sealed lead acid battery and Gel battery.
In fact with modern electric scooters a large part of the price is likely to be the cost of the battery especially if they are Electric Scooter Lithium Battery Pack. They can also be used as Electric Scooter Removable Battery being able to be charged away from the Electric Delivery Scooter.
There are 3 main factors are Cost, Speed, Climbing ability, range and Electric Scooter Battery Life, all of which have bearing on the choice of Electric Scooter Battery Pack necessary for the model you want to use
If you need to ride longer distances and more climbing the Electric Scooter Lithium Battery Pack would probably best suit your needs.
However if you do not use your Electric Delivery Scooter often or need a Removable Battery the GEl or Lead Acid may suit your requirements. You can always perform a battery upgrade at a later date if you have battery problems.
